Steps
Shred the cabbage.
Grate the carrots on the large holes of a grater.
Press the garlic through a garlic press.
Mix the cabbage and carrots in a large bowl.
Pour the oil and vinegar into a pot, then add the sugar, garlic, and salt.
Heat while stirring until the dressing boils and the sugar dissolves. Let it cool, or use it hot.
Pour the prepared dressing over the vegetables and mix.
Let the slaw rest for at least 1 hour. Stir occasionally, because the dressing will collect at the bottom of the bowl.
